The following is another Red Super Baldy F1 that we reserved for our own family's freezer - LANDRY 2411F. He will be another example of what our meat product can look like. He has just begun feed-out on our R) custom ration.

Meet Landry 2411F.
He was born 12-6-24 at 76# to a registered Red Brangus dam and our registered Hereford bull.

WW = 618#
LANDRY is pictured here at weaning.

WEIGHT BEFORE FEED-OUT = 1150#
Again, we made the decision to start feed-out at 21.5 months. He's been fully grass-fed until now with minimal protein cube supplement. This is his picture before feed-out. He will be processed in January 2027 after a 98-day progressive feed-out on my custom RRR feed-out ration.
I understand! Most folks believe it is lunacy to start this late. However, we believe this is the best age to start a red F1 that has been primarily on grass. The extra maturity darkens the beef for more flavor and nutrition for your family and is still young enough to retain tenderness. This is our personal 'sweet spot'. The commercial beef industry speeds up this process for economies of scale. However, RUSH RUSH RUSH does NOT give the best meat product, it only increases cash flow.
We take our time and get a better product.

LIVE WEIGHT = TBD#
LANDRY 2411F will be pictured here after feed-out. He will be weighed and loaded on the trailer to go to the processor.
My RRR raising philosophy and custom feed-out is designed to drive in any additional marbling and give a modest boost to the external layer of fat.
TIP: going for higher pounds per day can result in too much external unhealthy, wasteful fat deposits. When the steer is raised to a more mature age (~21+ mos) on grass, he has achieved a good stature and has plenty of muscle and healthy fats already.
The RUSH RUSH RUSH of the commercial feedlot industry means they are going for the highest ADG they can achieve in the shortest amount of time. So much of that gain is external fat that they trim away anyway. Then, they (the packers) beg for more lean foreign cattle to enter our country to offset our 'fat' cattle in the U.S.
(I do get frustrated with the lack of common sense).
