We call him Rico Suave. He's a gentle sweetheart and does his job well. He was purchased from Red Oak Farms through an ARBA sale. Prior to the sale, he was gain tested and received #1 OVERALL High Grading Bull: #1 for REA and #1 for ADG. We are watching him pass along these traits plus LBW to his offspring.
Christoff is a son of Rico Suave. His dam is "Shirley" - a beautiful cow from Siphorien Bayou Ranch. We kept him for his large frame, good looks, LBW, and fertility soundness. He also kept the great meaty attributes of his sire. We are using him on our smaller cows to bring some bone to their offspring.
Chip was a fall 2023 calf that we knew right away to keep as a bull. He won't be ready for a long while, but we are thrilled with his progress so far. He is the son of Rico and one of our gorgeous dams we call Chestnut (from C-Curb Farms).
The typical yearling "30 cm" is an average scrotal across all breeds, excluding Brahman, which are approximately 10 cm less. Red Brangus bulls sometimes measure under the 30 cm at yearling due to the Brahman influence. This is normal and does not affect fertility or daughter maturity as it would in non-indicus influenced cattle with less than 30 cm at yearling. RRR fertility tests the bulls at 18 months to 2 years of age regardless.
