A city girl meets a city boy - or so she thought...
She's in the pipeline industry. He's in the financial advisory business. They meet at a social club in Houston, Texas. Somebody from her group knew somebody from his??? Is that how the story goes? She just remembers him hogging all her time talking about himself. She learns he's from Palestine. Israel? No. East Texas Palestine. Oh no, east Texas... she'd met a few of those at Aggieland. Those hicks like to make fun of city girls. She remembers being told in her Animal Science 101 class at A&M... "If you don't know the difference between a Hereford and a heifer, you don't have any business in this class." She didn't leave the class but learned quick! And she fell in love with cattle and all manner of livestock. Years after graduating, she couldn't pass someone else's ranch without telling him what breeds of cattle they were raising and that she hoped "someday".
So, a city girl with an ag degree and a country boy with a business degree... Marriage and four daughters later living in the hustle and bustle of the city, and they were tired. Suddenly that "someday" became an opportunity when Covid hit. They decided to use Covid as their excuse for leaving the city behind and moved to the beautiful northeast Texas countryside.
She found a piece of property for her dream - a rundown practically abandoned "Once upon a time" ranch. He went along with it and the hard work began. The place still has work to do, but the cattle seem content - maybe a tad spoiled. She calls it gentle handling and it's paying off.
Who really knows what the future holds but they are enjoying for now what the Lord provided.
STEWARD FOR THE LORD. Our mission is to steward the ranch to the best of our abilities according to Col 3:23-24.
